John David Moss was the son of David Moss and Nancy Love and was born in Limestone Co AL, and by 1850 census, he and his mother, listed as Nancy Burne, were in TX, with other siblings of John, who was listed as J.D. He served in Confederacy from TX, then returned to Limestone Co AL, where he had been born, according to the 1850 census, and married a cousin, Sarah Elizabeth Moss. They remained in AL until late 1800's, then settled in TX. Several of their single daughters are buried here, and one young son, John David Moss. Katie M, (m Myrick) Sallie Ida, (m Sockwell) and John David Jr, were born after this census. Wiley was another son, next to the oldest, who was already married to Rozelle Sandlin, and he also lived in this area, but went to CA, where some of his descendants have been found recently. Sallie Ida Sockwell and husband are buried at Howell Cemetery at Wills Point TX
