Evelyn Frances (Skrhak Beran) Bunge entered into eternal rest at the age of 85 on Friday, August 2, 2019.

Evelyn was born to John and Matilda (Palousek) Skrhak on July 14, 1934 in Thrall.

Evelyn was the youngest of 7 children, and she attended school in Thrall graduating in the Class of 1952.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor where she was baptized, confirmed, received her First Communion, and was married. She was a faithful and dedicated servant of God. She was active in the Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Anne's Altar Society. Evelyn also taught CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) classes and helped with vacation Bible school for a few years.

As a child, Evelyn helped her parents on the farm east of Thrall where she chopped cotton, cooked and always reminisced about playing with her cat, doll, and their horse, Roni.

Evelyn married Emil Beran on November 24, 1952. They lived in Thrall and had a son, Ronny. For about one year, they owned and operated E&E Café which was located in Thrall on Highway 79. They then moved to the country south of Thrall at which time they had their daughter, Lisa. Evelyn was a dedicated mother and wife. She enjoyed sewing clothes for Lisa and tending to the farm with Emil and raising hogs, cattle, and chickens. Together she and Emil enjoyed dancing to polka and waltz music. Ronny went to his Heavenly Home in 1976, and Emil entered eternal rest in 1986.

Evelyn married Lester Bunge on September 14, 1991 at which time she moved from the country to Taylor. They continued to raise cattle on the farm. Together, they enjoyed life and did some travelling and as a hobby, made crafts. Evelyn said that working together on crafts was a pleasure. Together they also enjoyed dancing. Lester went to his Heavenly Home on January 21, 1999.

During her lifetime, Evelyn was a homemaker and worked in Taylor at McCrory's, Prewitt's Hardware, Gellman's Department Store, Twins' Shop, and Merle Norman cosmetics. She also sold Luzier Cosmetics travelling locally with her daughter in their family Studebaker. She always made an effort to visit friends and family at the local rest homes, was a caregiver for some of her siblings, and enjoyed helping others.

Evelyn loved children and always wanted to help them. She was a private tutor while she lived in the country. She also volunteered as a mentor of second grade students in reading, spelling, and vocabulary in the MAPS (Mentoring a Pasemann Student) program in Taylor. She adored every student and gained their trust, love, and friendship. She was a dedicated mentor and always was willing to fill slots when mentor coverage was needed. She also worked as a cook in the Thrall School Cafeteria and was a testing monitor at Temple College in Taylor.

Evelyn loved flowers and plants, worked very hard in her yard and loved decorating the yard as well as her home for the seasons and holidays.

Her life was full of things that she loved to do. She wanted to make a difference, to help others with small or large tasks, and she led a fulfilling life with the presence of God always with her. She had the biggest and kindest heart and she loved everyone. Her smile, laugh, and giggles were contagious and her eyes sparkled with the love she shared for others.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents John and Matilda (Palousek) Skrhak; first husband Emil Beran; in-laws Joe Karl Beran and Tracy (Haag) Beran; son Ronny Beran; second husband Lester Bunge; stepson Allen Bunge; brothers and sister in laws Emil Skrhak and Gladys, Edwin Skrhak and Dorothy, Raymond Skrhak and Betty, and Jerry Skrhak and Onafay; sisters and brothers in laws Gertrude Safarik and Arnold, Dollie (Matilda) Hajda and Johnnie; brother in laws Joe Beran, Pete Beran, Tony Beran, Carl Beran, Bill Beran, Henry Beran; sister in laws Agnes (Beran) Catchings, Sophie (Beran) Hall, and Frances (Beran) Biehle; two step brother in laws Louis (Sonny) Chalupa and Billy Chalupa, and many other family members.
