By 1920 Edward was living with his sister Martha Houchins and her family in North Newport, Washington, employed as a farm laborer. Edward married Elizabeth A. Bristow on October 22, 1930 in Josephine County, Oregon. The marriage did not last long.
Edward married Lila Ione Strong on June 29, 1935 in Roseburg, Oregon. They had three children: Donna Dee; Deanna; Larry Edward. The family lived in Oregon. Edward eventually turned from farming to logging.

Funeral services for a former Cottage Grove resident, Edward LeRoy Decker, were held Friday morning at Mills Mortuary with Cottage Grove Lodge No. 51 AF & AM taking part. Mr. Decker died in Eugene Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the age of 71. He was born March 30, 1901 at Kanakee, ILL and was married on June 14, 1935 in Roseburg to Lila I. Strong, who survives him.
Mr. Decker lived in the Cottage Grove area for several years and was a life member of Cottage Grove Lodge No. 51 AF & AM.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son and two daughters, Larry Decker in Minnesota, Donna Cowdin in Arizona and Deanna Cartmill of Florence; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Carr of Los Angeles, Calif., Margaret Tiffany and Grace Callihan both of Spokane, Wash. and several other relatives.
Vault interment was in Fir Grove Cemetery.
