Walter Bilyeu was born at Scio December 17, 1869, the son of W. H. and Martha Bilyeu. He was married to Julia Ficklin of Scio on December 14, 1898. Mr. Bilyeu made Scio his home for 50 years before moving to Kalama.
Surviving are his widow, a son, Vandare of Clatskanie, Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Ross of Portland; a sister, Mrs. Eva Coffey England of Kalama; three brothers, Albert of Kalama, Lloyd of Portland, and Homer of San Francisco.
Mr. Bilyeu was the last charter member of Scio Knights of Pythias Lodge, being a member for about 62 years. He operated the stage line from Scio to trains at West Scio and Munkers, and was operator of the Scio city light plant.
