Leonard C. Pennington, age 68, died at his home at Mingo Monday, September 2, 2002.
Mr. Pennington was a retired mail carrier and was a Methodist.
He was born at Slaty Fork April 22, 1934, the son of the late Edward and Flossie Varner Pennington.
His wife, Luella Rose Pennington, died January 15, 1999. Also deceased are sisters, Louella Mae Dumire, Laura Cathern Jones, and Rita Arlene Pennington, and brothers, Grover Wilson Pennington, Ronald William Pennington, Edward Bryan, Pennington, Jr., Howard Lorway Pennington, Francis Lee Pennington.
Mr. Pennington is survived by a daughter, Karen Friel, of Bridgeport; three stepdaughters, Linda Lass, of Taylorville, Illinois, Nancy DeVoe, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, and Susie Friel, of Petersburg; a son, Leonard Pennington, of Ida, Michigan; a stepson, Ronald Titus, of Smithfield, Virginia; four sisters, Lea Belle Gum, of Cass, Hazel Juanita Hinnerman, of Beverly, Betty Lou Virginia Swink, of Cass, Retha Pauline Doyle, of Mace; four brothers, Roy Delano Pennington, of Green Bank, James Laddie Pennington, of Durbin, Carl Blake Pennington, of LaPulente, California, and Paul Dillon Pennington, of St. Albans; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. David Rittenhouse. Burial will be at Arbovale.
