Gary Hudson Denney crossed the finish line on his last haul on March 16, 2021.

Born March 20, 1939, to Elaine "Ras" Rasmussen and Hudson John Denney in Draper, Utah.

Gary was the oldest of his siblings Mike (Loraine) Denney, Pam (Bob) Black, and Sandra (Wink) Ressler.

Gary leaves behind the love of his life Bonnita "Bunny" Irene Marsing Denney and their six children Robert Denney, Robin (Michel) Rogerson, Ryan (Rhonda) Denney, Marisa (Joey) Totorica, Heath (Adrian) Denney, his favorite caboose Regan Denique Denney; 18 grandchildren and his best ever 4-legged friend Vinnie. Preceded in death by 2 children Mario Anne Denney and Jana Maxine Stringfellow.

Gary was passionate about very few things, but the passion of those few ran deep.

The first time Gary sat behind the wheel of a big rig, at age 14, he fell in love. He spent the next 50 years driving diesels and teaching others to drive, including his wife, Bunny, and their son, Heath. Gary was always proud of his work. There is not a highway in the US that Gary didn't have a story to tell or a boastful "I helped build that."

As a child, Gary developed a love of the railroad. Over the years his love grew to an obsession. His most favorite thing in the world was to feel the rumble of a locomotive engine. He spent infinite hours "chasing trains" and running his own model railroad.

Gary's love of roaring engines did not stop with big rigs and locomotives. He also loved the racetrack! The louder the engine, the better. Nothing got Gary's heart pumping like the burn of nitromethane, and the smell of methanol.

Gary's greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. The moment he met Bunny, 58 years ago, it was love at first sight. He was a man of few words because few words were necessary. You knew what Gary had to say by the look on his face. When he looked at Bunny, he always had a gleam of love in his eyes. When he looked at his children he would smile with pride.

An Internment service will be held on March 27th, 2021 at 11:00 am for close family, at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, Ut 84092.
