Death takes "Old School" Horseman
Funeral services for Jack AL Sparks 68, well know horseman and trainer at the Tulsa fairgrounds, who died late Thursday in a hospital will be held at 4:pm Saturday in Moore's Memory Chapel.
The services will be conducted by Dr. Hallie G Gantz first Christian church pastor . Interment will be in Versailles, MO.
Mr.Sparks believed the victim of a heart attack was an "Old School Horsman" who could handle unruly horses, friends said. He was widely known among the children who frequent the fairgrounds and training area.
A Native of Versailles, Mo Mr. Sparks had been a resident of Tulsa county since 1915 first engaging in oil field work. He was a trainer at the Moulder-Oldham farm near Jenks three years. The last two years he was employed by Tom Gray, auto dealer at Gray's stables, where he lived.
Surviving are two daughter' Mrs. Cecil Brown, Omaha, Neb and Mrs. Ruby Pond, Denver, Colo, two sisters Mrs. Bonnie Morris , Versailles, Mo and Mrs Eula Craver, Tacoma, Wash and a brother Walt, of Tacoma, Wa.

ABOUT THE PHOTO: Luther Arthur Sparks and Zilphia Arnold Sparks married on 26 Nov 1899 in Glensted, Morgan Co, Missouri. They had two children:
-- Ruby Lee Sparks (1899-1980), mar. Roberts Bateman Pond Sr. (1897-1953). They had one son, Roberts Bateman Pond Jr. (1924-2006). No burial location has yet been located.
-- Helen Olive Sparks (1904-1973), mar. Cecil E. Brown.
Divorce proceedings were initiated some time before August of 1901, and finalized in December of 1905.
