Rosann Boman, 72, of rural Loda died at 9:55 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton. She had been ill four months.
A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Loda, with the Rev. Denis White officiating. Burial was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton.
Mrs. Boman was born Aug. 30, 1932 in rural Loda, the daughter of Francis and Naomi (Johns) Thilmony. She married Gerald W. Boman Aug. 22, 1953 at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church, Loda. He died Sept. 15, 2000.
A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Loda, the Rev. Stanley Malinowski officiating. Burial was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda. Pallbearers were Dan Schneider, Jerry Sanders, Louis Sanders, Scott Garrelts, Larry Elliott and Steve Austin. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Thilmony, Scott Thilmony and Barry Spicer.
She is survived by one son, Terry (Beth) Boman or rural Loda, four daughters, Tammy (Ron) Ross, and Toni (Dean) Swan, both of rural Paxton, Twila (Jeff) Johnson of Loda and Tiffani (Brad) Lutz of Fisher; ten grandchildren, Amy (Ted) Frazer, Raleigh, NC, Ben (Emilie) Ross, of rural Buckley, Christine Ross of Charleston, Bradley Swan and Lindsay Swan both of rural Paxton, Jonathan Frichtl of Chicago, Lauren Boman, Will Boman both of rural Loda, Colton Johnson and Carlee Johnson both of Loda; one sister Geraldine Medland of Fort Madison, Iowa and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Boman was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the C.C.W. She received the St. Joseph Woman of the Year award in 1971 and 1996. She also served on the Paxton Community Thrift Shop Board, was a PBL mentor, received the Buckley-Loda Mother's Club mother of the year award, the Loda Citizen of the year in 1989, received the 1992 Good Neighbor IGA award, was active in the Loda 4-H, served as an election judge, member of Royal Neighbors, active in Loda Good Ole Days, the Paxton Hospital Auxiliary, was a 49-year member of the Loda American Legion Auxiliary and a nursing home volunteer.
She spent her entire life in rural Loda where she attended the Streff School in rural Loda and graduated from Loda High School in 1950. She worked at the Loda Lumber Co. and assisted her husband on the farm and dedicated her life to helping others. Her interests were quilting, gardening and cooking but her main interst was her family.
Memorials may be made to her church, a scholarship for a PBL student or to various Loda area community organizations.
