Louise Gideon, age 95, of Houston, died Friday, January 4, 2008 in a Sugar Land Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Mary Louise Martin on March 3, 1912 in Forest Grove, Texas, the daughter of James Abram Garfield Martin and Era Pearl Kerr Martin. She grew up in Forest Grove and graduated from McKinney High School in 1929. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1935 from North Texas State and her Masters of Arts Degree in 1950 from Harding Simmons University. She married James Ollie Gideon on January 20, 1938 in Jacksboro. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1990. Mrs. Gideon taught third grade at Southward School for many years, was a member of the First Christian Church, sang Alto in the Choir and was also the substitute organist. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Clara Gideon of Cypress; two
grandchildren, Jeffrey Gideon of Houston, Jodie Gideon of Cypress and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and several brothers and sisters.
