Murrells Inlet - Ruth Hudson Bodie, aged 90, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Grand Strand Medical Center. She was born in Clarendon County, SC, and was a daughter of the late John Ira Hudson and Wealtha Oneta Tennant. She was raised in Kingstree and graduated in 1953. Ruth was a member of South Strand Assembly of God and a member of the Garden City Pier Liar's Club.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Horace F. Bodie Jr, her brothers, Clayton Hudson, Sr., Gene Hudson, John Hudson, and Charles Hudson, her sister Mary Hudson Gore, and a son D. Wayne Bodie.
Survivors include her children; H. Bryan Bodie of Garden City, Carl F. and his wife Donna Carter Bodie of Conway, J. Paul Bodie of Florence, Karen B. and her husband Dwight Milliken, Jr. of Florence; grandchildren, Gennifer B. Pace and her husband Taylor, Kaytie Bodie, Carrie B. Hambleton and her husband Leigh, Dylan Bodie, and great grandchildren; Kellan Hambleton, Rhys Hambleton, and Haddon Pace.
A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at South Strand Assembly of God, with Pastor Robert Hayes officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel assisted the family.
