Walter Edward Gentz was born December 13, 1913 in Springfield the son of William and Bertha (Krueger) Gentz. Wally helped his family on the farm until he was united in marriage to Lynora Nachreiner on July 3, 1945 in Springfield, MN. The couple made their home in Springfield where Wally was employed by Engelen Construction and Salonek Construction. He took great pride in his work. Lynora died in February of 1962. Wally later married Lorraine (Fenger) Stark in the spring of 1975. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield. Wally enjoyed fishing, quilting, auctions, playing cards, gardening, dogs, being on the farm, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Wally died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN at the age of 94 years.

He is survived by his children - Ronald (Judy) Gentz, Dennis Gentz, and Michael (Betty) Gentz; step children - Beverly Goerish, Linda Smith, Jean (Brian) Berg, Denese (Douglas) Leopold, and Dallas (April) Stark; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brothers - Vic (Lois) Gentz and William Gentz; sisters - Norma Wall and Betty Fennern; and a daughter-in-law - Sandy Gentz. He is preceded in death by his parents; wives - Lynora Gentz and Lorraine Gentz; a son - Gary Gentz; a grandchild - Laura Leopold; a great grandchild - Joshua Berg; a step son - Daniel Stark; sons-in-law - Roger Goerish and Ray Smith.
