Gerald Glen Sanders, affectionately known as "Grandpa," left this world on January 24, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 14, 1944, in Frost, TX, to John "Pete" Fletcher Sanders and Mildred May Williamson. Gerald grew up in Bynum, TX, and attended Bynum High School.
After high school, Gerald embarked on a fulfilling career that spanned several decades. He worked at United Coin Meter Company for over 10 years and later retired from Chaparral Steel, where he dedicated 25 years to the medium section mill. His commitment and hard work were evident in every aspect of his life.
Gerald was a devoted member of Oakcrest Baptist Church, where his faith played a central role in his journey. He found solace and strength in his religious convictions.
Known for his hands-on approach to life, Gerald had a passion for tinkering and working on cars or anything mechanical. He also showcased his talents in woodwork, metalwork, and jewelry making – skills he inherited from his father. If something needed fixing, Gerald was the person to call.
On March 7, 1970, Gerald married the love of his life, Patsy Jo McKenna Sanders. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Gerald leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment.
Gerald's life was marked by selflessness and dedication to his family. He coached Brian's baseball, soccer, and basketball teams, showcasing his unwavering support and love for his children.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and John "Pete" Sanders, and his sister, Sharon Stoffregen. He now joins them in eternal peace.
In remembrance of a life well-lived a graveside service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11 o'clock in the morning at Midlothian Cemetery.
