Marilyn J. Ballschmiede, age 94 ½,of East Dundee passed away on Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 . Marilyn was born in Elgin on April 19, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Robert T. & Caroline (nee Diekman) Herold.

Marilyn was a lifelong resident of the Dundee-Elgin areas. She was a 1946 graduate of Elgin High School. On September 13, 1947 she married her beloved husband, Robert F. Ballschmiede. Bob preceded Marilyn in death on July 24, 2006 after 58 years of marriage.

In addition to being the pure example of a "Great Mother", Marilyn had worked outside of her home. She was a former employee of Elgin Precision Glass Manufacturing and later H&M Limousine Service. She was truly dedicated to her family. Marilyn was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all of the personal and professional accomplishments. She will be truly missed.

Marilyn is survived by her six children: Robert H. (Kay), Richard (Ruth), Susan (Greg) Lazenby, Ronald (Carol), Randall (Wendy), and Karri (Richard) Klemmer.

Other survivors include her grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Waller, Amy (Jeff) Duncan, Brandon (Lindsey) Ballschmiede, Christina (Douglas) Freund, Stephen Lazenby, Ronald (Mary)Ballschmiede, Rebecca(Tim) Caden, Michael (Laura) Ballschmiede, Kyla (Ryan) Norman, Kevin (fiance' Jennifer Brill) Ballschmiede, David (Rebecca) Klemmer, and Christopher (Nikki) Klemmer: her great-grandchildren: Kody, Jesseca, Nathan, Brodie, Eliza, Crosby, Ethan, Ava, Mason, Madison, Jakob, Sophie, Hailey, Annie, Laney, Easton, Carson, Landon, Allison, and Charlie; and a great great granddaughter, Addy. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brothers Charles R." Bob" Herold and R. William Herold in infancy and a granddaughter, Lana DeShaw.

Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 11: 00 A.M. with Rev. William P. Yonker, Officiating. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Dundee. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to The Dundee Township Foundation P.O.
