Charles James was the son of George James & Nancy Ann Franklin, who married in Daviess County, IN in 1865. His maternal grandparents were Dr. Pleasant Franklin (Find-a-Grave No. 13531213) & Mahala (nee Davis) Franklin of Washington township, Daviess County, IN. There has been some dispute about his middle name. Some say that his middle name was Tedric. However, when he applied for his Social Security number from the Railroad Retirement Board, he stated that his middle name was Taylor.
