Mr. E. M. Laughlin, about seventy-five years of age, who died last week at his home in Shreveport and was buried last Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery, was a former resident of Alden Bridge and Plain Dealing. He moved here from Alden Bridge and conducted a drug business until his removal to Shreveport (his former home) about six years ago. Deceased was a widower. He leaves one daughter, a resident of Shreveport.

AGED CONFEDERATE VETERAN SUCCUMBS IN CITY TUESDAY

Capt. E. M. McLaughlin (sic), 78, Resident Here for Past Twenty Years.

Captain E. M. Laughlin, 78 years old, veteran of the Confederate army, died at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. C. Wheeler, 912 Linden street. Funeral services will be held from Wellman's undertaking parlors at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. George Sexton officiating. Burial will be in Confederate Rest, Greenwood cemetery, held under the auspices of the Masonic lodge, and the Confederate veterans. Captain Laughlin, in addition to his daughter here, is survived by a niece, Mrs. B. A. Breard of Monroe. He had lived in this section for twenty years, until five years ago at Alden Bridge, Bossier parish. He entered the Confederate service in April 1861, belonging to Company A, second Louisiana Volunteers, and was later promoted to a captain of artillery. He was discharged from the service in Shreveport in 1865.
