Ralph Scott McKinnon

August 15, 1951 — November 30, 2023

Duchesne, UT - Ralph Scott McKinnon- "Scott" age 72, passed away on November 30, 2023 with quiet dignity at his home in Duchesne Utah. Scott was born August 15, 1951 in Evanston, Wyoming to Ralph Harold Eugene McKinnon and Reta Cornia McKinnon. Scott spent his early years on the ranch in Rich County, Utah where he cherished the lifelong friendships and memories he made there. Later the family moved to Almy, Wyoming and he attended Evanston High School where he enjoyed participating in Ottley's Boxing Club, riding bareback horses and fast cars.

Soon after school, Scott traded in his saddle-horse for a '63 Impala and moved to the Basin. In Roosevelt, Scott met the love of his life, Virginia "Ginger" Sue Seaver, and they were married on June 12, 1970. Scott soon realized the service station and horseshoe tournaments behind Sprouse-Reitz (while working) was not quite enough to keep up with the tires his new bride was burning off his hot-rod and so Scott joined the oil "patch". From roustabout, rigs and pumping to the successful owner/operator of G&S Oilfield Service, Scott took great pride in his work and appreciated the life that industry provided him and his family for forty-plus years. When not working, Scott enjoyed the outdoors and was a grateful hunter, sportsman and shooter. He liked to jokingly tell his grandsons that he was "once an expert marksman and scout-sniper"... but he had to quit when he "learned it was called poaching". A giver of nicknames to all and stranger to no one, Scott found goodness in all people.

Scott is survived by his wife, Ginger; brother, Parley (Jan) McKinnon, Nevada: daughter, Karrie (Kyle) Arnold, Midway, Utah; and son, Shon Scott (Tracy) McKinnon, Altamont, Utah; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of which he thought the world of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Della Blake, brother, Charles (Loraine) McKinnon and son, Douglas Gene McKinnon.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Duchesne County Centennial Events Center. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM, also at the events center.

Burial will be in the Strawberry Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
