WW II - US Army - Awarded the Silver Star Medal for bravery in action and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received.∼James "Jim" R. Campbell, Sr., age 85, passed away May 1, 2008, at his home.
Jim was born April 29, 1923, to Earl and Anna Campbell in South Bend, Ind. Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He loved life, his kids and grandkids, bowling, working in his shop, and his dog, Toby.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (2007), his parents and brother, Michael.
Jim will be sadly missed by his daughter, Jan Brown, sons, James "Jamie" Campbell Jr. and wife, Sarah, Dennis and wife, Donna, Dave and wife, Sandy, Marty and wife, Luann; grandkids: David, Melissa, Morgan, Jose, Michelle, Michael, Dalton, Wyatt, Jessica, and Sarah, and great grandkids; brother, Monte, sisters, Fern, June, and Florence; host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Maher~Livingston Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with interment to follow at Garner Township Cemetery in Council Bluffs, with military rites provided by American Legion Rainbow Post #2.
