Mr. Eugene Martin "Gene" Baker, 98 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Belle Maison Nursing Home, Hammond. He was born on Sunday, December 12, 1909, in Elmire, Arkansas, son of the late Thomas Larkin Baker and Jessie Ellen Wolford Baker. Mr. Baker was a retired Antique Dealer.
Surviving are 4 sons, Thomas, Richard, Mike and Charlie Baker; a daughter, Debra B. Gentry; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Juanita Sharp Baker; daughter, Betty Knight of Texas; great-grandson, Steve Allen Barnwell Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Clara Nicole Rumker.
Friends will be received at the Albany Missionary Baptist Church - 45430 Durbin Rd. - Hammond until services with Rev. Richard Baker officiating. Interment in the Albany Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery - Hammond
