Our Beautiful Mother LaVere Roundy Brinkerhoff, 88, passed away May 4, 2015. She was born December 31, 1926 in Alton, Utah to Napoleon Bonaparte Roundy and Zelpha Allen, where she enjoyed a wonderful, happy childhood. She married her sweetheart, Warren (Tink) Brinkerhoff November 8, 1944, in the St. George, Utah Temple. They were blessed with 8 children and raised them in Glendale, Utah. They moved their family to St. George in 1969.

Our mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. Her first callings were at age 13 as a primary teacher, at age 17 M.I.A. President. She served in many other callings & leadership positions in the church throughout her life. She magnified each one. She has always had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ and it has been her privilege to serve Him. Mom especially enjoyed her and Dads CES Mission to Tuba City, Arizona where she taught Seminary and served together at Porters Rest Home. Mom has always had a positive attitude. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always ready for the next adventure.

She has lived a life of true charity. She is a published author. She wrote a weekly column for the Washington County News, was a lifelong member of the Heritage Writers Guild where she won many awards for her writing and was in charge of writers workshops at Dixie College. Her writing talents have blessed many lives. She won a contest naming the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. She was a member of the DUP (Daughters of Utah Pioneers).

Mom was the manager of the Beehive Clothing Center for many years. After retirement, her life was filled with family, writing, & serving others.

Her family was everything to her. Each child, grandchild & great-grandchild were loved and cherished.

LaVere is survived by her children: Carey (Elaine) Brinkerhoff of Ivins, Suzann (Kyle) Barton of Orderville, Jeffrey (Marsha) Brinkerhoff of St. George, Carolyn (Monte) Lewis of Washington, Jill (Dave) Alford of St. George, Janeen (Rick) Holm of Carlin, NV and Brenda (Joe) DuPaul of St. George; 30 grandchildren & 69 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannine Brown and brother, Duaine (Rose) Roundy both of St. George.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Brinkerhoff; son, Clyde R. Brinkerhoff; her parents; and siblings, Melba (Dell) Dutton, Clyde Roundy, Barbra Roundy & Wana (Rolland) Hoyt.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 9, 2015, at 11:00AM at the St. George 8th Ward Chapel, 166 S. Main. A viewing will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St. and Saturday prior to services at the Chapel from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.

As a family we would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Grace Paradela, Hospice Nurses Andie Kelley & Mary Jo Taylor, CNA's Melissa Stahleli & Paula Worth, Massage therapist Debra Crawford & all the staff at Ridgeview Gardens for their loving care of our mom.
