Asleep in Jesus ! far from thee.
Thy kindred and their graves may be,
But thine is still a blessed sleep,
From which none ever wake to weep.

There is no death ! what seems so is transition,
This life of mortal breadth
Is but a suburb of life elysian,
Whose portal we call death.
