Dear Jean (Vest niece):

Your letter received last Wednesday & I was glad to hear from you & to know you are all well and to hear the boys are growing so fast. Hope they will keep well and not get the whooping cough for it is sure bad. The children around here have had a tough time. Most of Reelie's (Vest nephew) children are at their worst now. Will's (Vest nephew) are getting better & Jennie Sexson & Grason Woodyard & Dave Flick and Capt. Francis all have it too. Capt has been so bad off with it. Your Uncle Floyd (Vest) has a bad cough so I think he has it too.

Aunt Sallie (Sallie Vest, w/o Floyd) has a beautiful garden, the best around here. We have a good garden. We have plenty of beans & cucumbers growing. We had some good apples but they are nearly all gone. I wish you and the children could have some for dumplings. We have some nearly every day. Will ate dinner with us today and he said he would take the flower slips to you next Saturday.

I have lots of roses blooming now. I have 5 different kinds in bloom now. Mary & Jule (Vest nieces) have pretty flowers now. Your Mother (Kate Stinson Vest, Mag's sister) has a good garden and has so many nice chickens & has put up lots of black berries too. She is well but her feet her her so much. I go up and trim them for her nearly every week. They have three calves and one colt. Sam's (Vest nephew) young mare works so well & is so fat and Sam thinks more of her than he does of himself. I will send you a piece of my new roses.

Goodbye
Mag B.
