10 June 1940 Delta, Colorado "Pioneer Matron of Delta Dies at Home"

Mrs. Eliza Jane Womack better know to many as Grandma Womack, passed away quite suddenly Monday evening at her home where she resided for 37 years. Left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Mrs. Martha Young of Randolph, Texas, and Mrs. Tennie Massey of Tryon Georgia, 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Seven children: Mrs. W.D. Himes, Mrs. Minnie Cole and Henry Womack of Delta, James Womack of Grand Junction; Mrs. Frank Hepworth of Ouray; Mrs. Charles Hickock of Seattle, Washington; and Mrs. Frank Darling of Hollywood, California. Mrs. Womack nee Eliza Jane Anderson, was born March 6, 1852 at Chestnut Mound, Tennessee, where she met and married William Womack Sept 15, 1869. They moved shortly to Texas, and in 1889 came to Delta County, Colorado.
