Clark Stallings, son of William and Matilda Stallings, was born April 19, 1877 and departed this life February 13, 1936, aged 58 years, 10 months and 23 days.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his widow, two sons, Rodney, of Belleville, and Wayne, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two brothers, Charley and J. H. of Belleville; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Martin, of Parkersburg and four grandchildren.
Mr. Stallings was born in Monroe County, Ohio, and came with his parents to the Grant district section of Jackson County. On November 26, 1899 he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Miihlbach by Rev. H. K. Riffe. The 37 years of their life was spent on their present farm. He was a well known farmer and his interest caused him to keep good livestock. He gave his life to his family and community in order to make life easier for others.
Death was attributed to complications over a period of two years. His doctor had warned him that he might be subject to an acute heart attack and that work would hasten the condition. He was apparently in normal health and doing his own work. In the early afternoon he had told his wife that he was going to feed the cattle, which were on the J. H. Williams farm. In the early evening his wife became alarmed and at once set out in search of him. She found him near the cattle in an unconsious state and immediately summoned help but before medical aid could be rendered, he passed away.
Funeral services were under the directions of E. P. Palmer and were conducted Saturday, February 15, from the Medina Church, with Rev. W. S. Staats officiating, assisted by Rev. G. T. Caltrider. A large audience gathered to pay their respects to a deceased neighbor and loved one. The body was taken to the Ravenswood cemetery where the interment was made.
