George was the second oldest son of six children born to William Alexander and Mary J. Blagrave. He was born and raised in the Lewiston area. In Shasta County on 2 March 1899 he married Ada May Williams. They would together raise a family of four children: Gladys May, Leona Ramona, George Norman, and Vesta Wanda "Bonnie".

George had the U.S. Mail contract for the Dorleska Mine for over 12 years. On his last trip he failed to return home. His body was found in the woods along the trail to Carrville. It was determined that for some unknown reason he was thrown from his horse. He hit his head on a rock and died.
