Carl H. Abbe, 88, of Countryside Village, Stokesdale, N.C., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he was born March 21, 1915, and was the son of the late Charles and Agnes Ruhrlapper Abbe. His career as an engineer spanned 35 years. Aside from his business, he was an avid model railroad enthusiast, having memberships in local railroading clubs in the New York and Pennsylvania areas. He was also past president of the National; Campers and Hikers Association; Pfizer Photography Club; and served on the Board of Commissioners of Manchester Township.

Since his move to North Carolina four years ago, he had attended Flat Rock United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two children, Carl F. Abbe and his wife, Diane, Greensboro, N.C., and Carol A. Pulice and her husband, Salvatore, Long Island, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Kenny Abbe, Kelly Abbe and Vinny Franco.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, at the Brooke Funeral Home, 8320 U.S. Highway 158, Stokesdale.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service, at the funeral home.
