Robert was the first child of John and Mary Jane's born in Utah. Born and raised in Bountiful, Davis County Utah. After his father left for Arizona with his third wife, Robert stayed with his Mother and his 10 brothers and sister to help and work the farm. While living in Bountiful Robert met a beautiful young lady by the name of Dora Bell Lister. The two would marry on March 19 1890 in Logan Temple, Logan, Cache County Utah.
In 1890 the young couple moved to Rigby, Jefferson County Idaho were they started a new family
