Curtis Banks - ERWIN
ERWIN — Mr. Curtis Wayne Banks, Age 47, 1971 Chestoa Pike, Erwin, died at his residence Wednesday, April 23, 2008, following a brief illness.

He was a native of Rockwood, Tennessee, and had been a resident of Erwin since 1961. Curtis was a 1979 graduate of Unicoi County High School. He was employed by Nuclear Fuel Services as a chemical operator for the past 27 years.

Curtis loved woodworking and was a wonderful carpenter. He was an avid sports fan, especially U.T. sports. Curtis was a member of Love Chapel Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Elsie Callahan Banks.

Curtis is survived by: his mother and step-father, Vivian and Charlie Vaughan, Wilmington, North Carolina; his father and step-mother, Wilbur and Shirley Banks, Unicoi; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Love, Erwin; his daughter, Chelsea Adkins, Hilton Head, South Carolina; his fiancee', Angie Edwards, Erwin; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Justin and Georgeanne Banks, Hampstead, North Carolina, Jeff Vaughan, Wilmington, North Carolina; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Amelia Banks, Wilmington, North Carolina, Victoria and Jerry Benhoff, Wilmington, North Carolina, Mary Ann and Chris Hughes, Erwin; one nephew, Aaron Banks, Hampstead, North Carolina; five nieces, Ashlee Banks, Hampstead, North Carolina, Nicole Holliday, Calisa Benhoff, both of Wilmington, North Carolina, Courtney Hughes, Kelsey Hughes, both of Erwin.

The funeral service for Curtis will be conducted Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 8:00 P.M. from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Bess, Minister, officiating. Special music will be provided by Retha Sproles and Gary Amos.

The graveside committal service will be held Sunday, April 27, 2008, at 12:30 P.M. in Evergreen Cemetery, with Bruce Shawver, Minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Justin Banks, Todd Love, Scott Charles, Tim Love, Eddie Allen, Boo Ambrose and Chris Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Vaughan, Jerry Benhoff and Aaron Banks. Those planning to attend the committal service are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:20 P.M. Sunday.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. Those who prefer to make memorial contributions may do so to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Dr., Johnson City, TN 37604.
