The funeral for Mr. Hurd will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Dan View Cemetery.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Hurd was a retired machinist with Wysong, was a World War II Army veteran, and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Ward Hurd; sons, Michael C. Hurd of Eden, Stephen Jessie Hurd of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Virgie Powell of Eden, Mary Shelton of Taylor, S.C.; brother, Jerry Hurd of Bassett, Va.; and grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Hurd of Atlanta.
