Solomon L. Bever was born on 20 September 1827 to George and Sobina Bretz Bever. He married Mary Blair on 5 May 1850 in Crawford County, Ohio. By 1860 this family had moved to Wells County, Indiana. Five children were born of this union, George, Isaac, Margaret (my great-great-grandmother), Bethuel and Jacob.

Solomon L. Bever served in the Union Army during the Civil War in Company K, 123 Ohio Regiment Infantry. He enlisted on 22 August 1862 for three years. He was mustered out of service at Camp Chase, Ohio on 12 June 1865. Solomon is my great-great-great-grandfather and one of my approved patriots for the lineage society, National Society Daughters of the Union Veterans 1861-1865. He died on 28 December 1866 and is buried next to his parents.
