Mary Ellen Peters, 99, of Lafayette, IN passed away at Five Star Residences in Lafayette 9:45 AM Saturday Feb. 17, 2024 where she had resided the past two years.
She was born in Lafayette August 29, 1924 the daughter of the late Harvey H. and Nellie Anna (Tengen) Kantz. Mary Ellen attended St. Boniface Grade School and was a 1942 graduate of St. Francis High School. Her marriage was to Joseph F. Peters in Lafayette July 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death May 14, 1992.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. Mary Ellen had been employed for many years as a legal secretary and bookkeeper.
Surviving are four sons, Thomas L. Peters (Carol) of Aurora, CO, David J. Peters (Janie) of Lafayette, IN, James M. Peters (Bev) of Newland, NC, and Patrick C. Peters of Stark, NH. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kathleen M. Lester, four brothers, James, Robert, Edward and Paul, a sister Elizabeth, a grandson and a great-grandson.
