Hannah was the daughter of Thomas & Irena Randolph Gribble.

Family tradition tell that during the Civil War while Burdine was away fighting the Yankees came looking for horses and the Captain chose her horse. She cried and begged and pleaded for them not to take the horse. This did no good whatsoever so then she pulled a butcher knife from under her skirt and cut its throat. The then told the Captain that she would rather see it dead than to have a @#%^&* Yankee riding him.
