DUVERNEY — Louise M. Duverney of Elk Rapids died Wednesday night at Munson Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was 61 years old. Surviving are her husband, Charles; a son, David, at home; two daughters, Jane of Tustin, Calif. and Judy Dean of Williamsburg; and two grandchildren. A grandson, Franz Dean, preceded her in death. She was born April 16, 1913, in Calumet to Harry and Maude (McCaskle) Jefferson. She move to Elk Rapids prior to her marriage, Oct. 9, 1940. A graduate of Northern Michigan University, Marquette, she taught home economics at Elk Rapids High School. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading. Funeral services are scheduled to be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dockery-Wilhelm-Smith Funeral Home in Elk Rapids with the Rev. Robert Doner officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, 10 to noon. Memorials, for which envelopes may be picked up at the funeral home, may be directed to the Elk Rapids High School library.
