Winifred R. Melchior left this world at age 95 from Lake Park Comfort Care on April 26, 2008. She was born March 27, 1913, to Grover and Rose Copley. She married Robert L. Melchior January 22, 1938, and celebrated 70 years of marriage this year, until his death on March 17, 2008. She was employed at Tiedtke Department store for about 10 years. Winifred has been a member of Alexis Congregational Church since 1948 and served as deaconess, clerk, S.S. teacher and S.S. and Women's Fellowship treasurer. She is survived by daughters, Janet Scharer, Betty (Keith) McCall; grandchildren, Christian (Erica) Scharer, Jill (Clay) Christian, Wendy McCall and Kevin (Jolaine) McCall and 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty (Paul) Ruth and brother, Floyd (Rosella) Copley and many nieces and nephews. Those who preceded her in death are sisters, Alice Stainbrook, Nova Gillmor, Jane Cook and Lynette Widmer; brothers, Robert, Paul and Don Copley. The family will receive friends at the Boyer-VanWormer-Scott Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Rd. North of Laskey Rd. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Interment Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexis Congregational Church.
