Mrs. Mary John Fowler, 86, Summerville, passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 4, 2004, at her residence.


Mrs. Fowler was born in Chattooga County on March 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Duke G. and Elizabeth Harlow Ellenburg. She was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church.


Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Fowler, on Dec. 23, 2003, and two brothers, Harold Ellenburg and Albert Ellenburg.


Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Jimmie Duke and Max Jones, Lyerly; a grandson and granddaughter in law, Tony and Denise jones; a granddaughter and grandson in law, Lynn and Mike Stull; three great grandchildren, Morgan Stull, Summer Jones and Rose Jones; and a nephew, James Ellenburg.


Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan,. 5, in the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Adams and Dr. Paul Mason officiating. Interment was in the Summerville Cemetery.


Pallbearers were James Ellenburg, Ricky Busby, Truman Mitchell, Randy Elrod, Robert Floyd and Leroy Buice.


Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. George Black, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson Ponder, Pat Evans, Dorothy Gilreath, Nadine Espy, Nancy Hughes, Pamela Holmes, Lisa Perone, Linda Priest, Linda Lawrence, Faye Smith, Pennie McCutchens and Martha Waggoner.


Earle Rainwater Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
