Thelma Mackenroth Abernathy, a homemaker, died Jan. 31 at her home. She was 78. Mrs. Abernathy was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include a son, Stephen W. Abernathy; a daughter, Jacquelyn Abernathy Rausch; and six grandchildren. Services were private. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
