Ruben Albert Brasel was born on September 5, 1932 in Perham, MN. He grew up in Dent, MN. When he was nine months old his mother passed away. Ruben was raised by John and Martha Diederichs; his foster parents and aunt and uncle. He attended rural school in Dent, Minnesota and graduated with the class of 1950 from Perham High School.
On September 28, 1957 Ruben was united in marriage to Wanda Lea Juanita Erickson at Lyndale Congregational Church in Minneapolis. Ruben and Wanda continued farming in rural Dent, retiring in 1993. Ruben was very active in community affairs after his retirement.
He loved attending school events that his children and grandchildren participated in, he also enjoyed watching sports on Television, and hunting and fishing.
