Haskell Eugene Presnell, of Newport TN, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Born in the Jones Cove Community of Sevier county Tennessee. He attended Providence Baptist Church.
He retired from Detroit Gasket Company. He and his wife Ruth were avid hikers and loved hiking all the trails in the Smoky Mtns, especially Mount Cammere (White Rock). He loved all things NASCAR and was a Stock car owner and longtime flagman at the Tennessee/ Carolina Speedway. When he wasn't hiking he loved fly fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Haskell was preceded in death by his son, James Edward (Eddie) Presnell; father, Major Presnell; mother, Rosa Presnell; brothers, Delmar Presnell and Kenneth Presnell; sisters, Gladys Webb, Margie Hudson, Helen Clark and Reva Owenby.
Haskell is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Ramsey Presnell of Newport TN; daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Taylor of Newport TN and Trecia (Jeff) Wertz of Lilburn GA; granddaughter, Angie (Jimmy) Pruitt of Franklin TN; great-grandchildren, Taylor Pruitt and Kate Pruitt of Franklin TN; brother, Jack (Cheryl) Presnell of Bybee TN; sister, Reba (Johnny) Webb of Carson Springs TN; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Presnell of Newport TN, Maryvene Ramsey of Newport TN and Ava Ramsey of Valdosta GA; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family would like to Thank Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice staff and caregivers Janelle, Chelsea, Jeremy and Pastor Danny Hill.
Burial will follow in the Huskey Cemetery in Gatlinburg, TN in Sevier County.
