Mr. Maurice William "Bill" Thomas, Jr., age 71 of Toccoa, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Stephens County Hospital. Born April 21, 1946 in Sycamore, GA*, he was a son of the late Rev. Maurice William Thomas, Sr. and Julia Antoinette "Anne" Johnson Thomas. He was retired from the United States Army and was of the Baptist Faith. Family members include his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Miller and David of Demorest, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Thomas and Marie of Columbus, GA; a nephew, Nick Thomas of Columbus, GA; and a niece, Lena Thomas of Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm until 3pm Sunday, September 10, 2017. No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter, 1747 Scenic Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577. Whitlock Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
