Note: This information was passed down me Roberta (Ness)DeBoor from Alice Bettenhousen (Alfred's cousin). Alfred had been getting hay at Oscar Ness farm (my uncle). Oscar asked Alfred to stay because the storm was coming, but Alfred thought he had better get home becuase his mother would have dinner waiting. From a distance Nesses could see the wagon circling and knew something was wrong, Alfred had been hit and killed by lightening, he was 23 years old.
