The following obit was kindly provided by Find-A-Grave Member, Barbara Cox which ran in the (Jacksonville) Florida Metropolis on 6 Nov 1919.
"John Macacheek" (Mac-A-Cheek)"Piatt, 40 born at Macacheek Ohio; son of William M Piatt, grandson of Gen. AS Piatt, died at 311 West Duval Street where he was a guest of his aunt: Mrs Ella Kirby, widow of the late Col. Donn Piatt. Being in ill health sought relief in change of climate and arrived in Jacksonville just ten days ago and his sudden death will be a great shock to his family. The deceased is survived by his father, William M Piatt, two sons and three sisters: Mrs. John Flanagain" (Flanigan) "(sic) of Springfield, O., Miss Marguerite Piatt, of Macacheek, O., and Miss Bertie Piatt" (also of Macacheek, O.) "who was with him when he died. The body was moved and prepared for burial and will be forwarded tonight to West Liberty, O., for interment."
