Sarah Theresa Zechini, 87, of Rustburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at the Carrington.


Miss Zechini was born July 14, 1919, in Burgettstown, Pa., to the late Lorenzo Leo Zechini Sr. and the late Geneva Barbieri Zechini.


She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a graduate of Holy Cross Academy. Sarah retired from Lynchburg Training School and Hospital and was a member of Mended Hearts. She was a wonderful cook and loved to tend her yard and care for her beautiful flowers.


In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Laura Zechini and Esther Zechini Bryant; and three brothers, Arthur Zechini, Lorenzo Leo Zechini Jr. and Arturo Umberto Zechini. Surviving are two brothers, Carlton E. Zechini of Rustburg, and Kenneth R. Zechini and wife, Annie of Lynchburg. Sarah is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will always love her as the special aunt she was. She was a wonderful, loving and generous daughter, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed by all.


A funeral mass will be celebrated at noon, Saturday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, by the Rev. Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush.


A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
