Nellie G. Romines – age 95 of Knoxville was born in Cocke County on March 2, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. Nellie graduated from Cosby High School. She taught school for two years at Bell Hill School in Cocke Co. She then left Cocke County to live in Knox County and to extend her education. She attended the University of TN studying Human Services. Nellie retired from Tennessee Department of Human Services.


Preceded in death by husband, J.D. Romines; parents, Isaac and Mary Jane Greene; brothers, Walter, D.A., Lawson, and Edmund Greene; sisters, Nettie Ford, Etta Ford, Jettie Baxter, and Rachel Woody; and brother-in-law, Fred Romines.


Survived by children, Dee Romines and Jay (RoAnn) Romines; grandchildren, Rebecca Romines and Daniel Romines; sister, Betty Romines; nephews, David (Natalie) Romines, Michael Romines, and Harold Woody; and nieces, Glenda Reece, Sandra Barnes, Kathy Tocholke, Helen Green, Mary Grace Freeman, and Tammy Williamson.


Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM on Friday at Boyd's Creek Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
