Mrs. Lucretia B. Dennis was born January 9, 1861, at Lebanon, Missouri, and went to be with her Saviour at 7 p.m. Monday, December 5, 1938, at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 26 days. At the time of her passing beyond she was living with her husband, Tom Dennis, at 221 Thirteenth Street, Buhl. The immediate cause of her heath was a recent heart ailment.

When but a mere child, in Wright County, Missouri, the War between the States broke out, her father was called to service, leaving the mother ad the children with relatives in Grove Springs, Missouri, where the deceased grew to womanhood.

On November 9, 1884 she was united in marriage to Tom Dennis, at Grove Springs. To this union were born four children, Estella, Don, John and Lulu. Estella and Don having preceded their mother in death. Just one week and three days after the death of Estella, who was Mrs. Henry Massey, Veda Massey came to live with her grandparents, and has been as a daughter in the home ever since, instead of a grand-daughter. She always preferred to be known as Veda Dennis. The grandparents also became as parents to the little girl instead of grandparents.

The couple, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dennis, lived in Missouri for some years, and then removed to Western Kansas to reside for four years, returning to Missouri where they made their home for many years. They visited in Nebraska and Oregon later on, coming to Buhl in 1914 from St. Helens, Oregon.

Mrs. Dennis was converted in 1875 and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at parks Creek, Wright County, Missouri. During the years she was very faithful in her church responsibilities. On May 7, 1922 Mrs. Dennis came into the membership of the First Baptist Church of Buhl. She was also a member of the Local Rebecca Lodge, in which she was intensely interested.

Her home and her Bible held very high consideration in the daily routine of her life. The old Family Bible with all its names and records in it will always be a treasured, choice reminder of the one whose chief delight was her home and its welfare.

She was a lover of flowers, and old gospel songs. The songs being sung today were some of her favorites. In the words of loved ones: She was mother to all children, and never did speak a harsh word or unkind word to anyone.

As she has gone to be with her Saviour, she leaves to await their coming up higher, her husband, Tom Dennis; one son, John, of Buhl; and one daughter, Mrs. R.C. Jackson, of Tekamah, Nebraska. She also leaves to mourn her passing, 17 grandchildren and ten great-grand-children, beside a host of friends and neighbors wherever she has lived.

A quartet, composed of Mrs. W.L. Kyles, Mrs. Earl R. Berg, John A. Brown and Rev. Earl R. Berg. Sang the following songs:

1. We are Going Down the Valley.

2. How Beautiful Heaven Must Be.

3. Rock of Ages.

The scripture passages used in the service by Rev. Earl R. Berg were:

The test: John 14:1,2 Using as the theme: The Way Home.

John 11:25; Job 19:25; 1 Timothy 6:6; Matthew 25:34-40; Proverbs 31:10-30; Revelation 14:13: Psalms 73:24-26

The service was held in the First Baptist church of Buhl, Idaho, on Thursday, December 8, 1938, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Earl R. Berg officiating. The Rebeka Lodge conducted a memorial service at the graveside.
