Gary D. Campbell, 73, of Pekin, IL, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at home with his wife by his side.

He was born October 23, 1950, in Peoria, IL to Homer George and Ruby Irene Floyd Campbell.

His parents preceded him in death.

He married Sherrie Crenshaw September 27, 1976, in St. Louis, MO; she survives. He is also survived by his sister and her husband; brother-in-law and his companion and nephew.

Gary graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1968. He also graduated from ICC and attended LA Harbor College and Bradley University. He worked for Caterpillar, retiring in 2003. Gary was an antiques dealer and was a member of the North American Decoy Collectors and the Callmakers and Collectors Association of America. Gary was a quiet witty soul with a tender heart. Always ready and willing to help others. An advocate for nature. He led a relaxed life with his wife and companion of over 50 years and their cats and dogs. His favorite enjoyments included researching antiques and fine art, bird watching, being in the garden with his wife and pets, walking, music, working outdoors and his friendships. He had always wanted to learn how to play the guitar.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
