F, 1st Pennsylvania (Ramsey's) Battalion, and promoted to corporal July 30. He re-enlisted and mustered into federal service January 10, 1864, as a sergeant with Co. D, 187th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company August 3, 1865.
After the war he has the following children. Charles Edwin (b. 09/22/62), Bertha Jane "Birdie" (b. 10/12/66 - married Henry Helman), John M. (b. 04/24/67), George L. (04/24/68 - but he may have been John's twin), Harry (b. 11/16/70), Lillie A. (b. 11/15/72 - married George A. Wagner), Loy (b. @1874), and Maud M. (b. 06/13/77 - married a Wiest)
