Raymond E. May Sr, 81, of Lafayette, IN, died on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born on April 14, 1942 in Lafayette, IN to the late Lawrence Raymond May and Emma (Risner) Chrisman. Raymond was a 1960 graduate of Pine Village High School. He married Elizabeth Early on October 19, 1962 in Green Hill, IN; she preceded him in death on March 30, 2005. Raymond served in the United States Air Force. Ray was self-employed, working in construction and maintenance his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bingo and randomly dropping in on people for morning coffee.

Ray is survived by four children; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; right great-great-grandchildren; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; stepfather, George Chrisman; and longtime best friend, Lee Priest.

A celebration of Ray's life will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2-4 PM at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Otterbein, IN.
