LaVerne M. Neis, 87, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Watertown, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Lowell Cemetery. LaVerne Mae Thielke was born on May 29, 1936 in Watertown, WI to Frank and Alma (nee Radlof) Thielke. LaVerne attended Bethany Lutheran Grade School and later completing at St. Mark's Lutheran School in 1951. She was a 1955 graduate of Watertown High School. On March 5, 1960 she married Robert Neis, Sr. in Watertown.

LaVerne had worked at Klein's Department Store in Watertown, Sentry Foods in Beaver Dam, but primarily worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly in Juneau for 30 years.

LaVerne was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown, had volunteered at Watertown Memorial Hospital, Women's Health Center, and the Highland Apartment building.

Her grandchildren were a special gift to her from Heaven. She was a fun-loving person and enjoyed talking to people.

LaVerne is survived by her children: JoAnn (Michael) Vogel of Beaver Dam, Robert (Leah) Neis of Reeseville, Christine (Steven) Eberle of Oconomowoc; grandchildren: Dustin (fiancé Taylor) Vogel, Mandy (Chris) Seymour, Ashley (fiancé Logan) Neis, Austin (Stephanie) Neis, Colton Neis, Nathan (Taylor) Eberle, Lauren (fiancé Ben) Eberle, Kyle Eberle; five great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Neis, Sr.; sister, Frieda (Wilbert "Bud") Wuestenberg.
