Wife of [Charles] Barney Davis, Jr., who is buried here with her.Mrs. Leila Ruth Crawford Davis, age 91, of Norcross, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Larks Nest Personal Care Home in Loganville. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6th at 2:00pm at the Jackson Baptist Church Cemetery near Sandersville. The Rev. Marlon Lastinger will officiate.

Mrs. Davis was born in on September 13, 1920 at home in Honea Path, South Carolina, one of eight children. She graduated from Honea Path High School in 1936 and from Furman University in 1941 with a BS in Home Economics. Ruth married Charles Barney Davis Jr., of Tennille, on December 27, 1943 in Carrollton. She worked as the supervisor of Dietary Services at West Georgia College. Ruth was the manager of school lunch services in Montgomery County High School from 1957-1966 and worked as a nursing home caseworker for DFCS from 1966 until her retirement in 1977. She was active in the Norcross Woman's Club and was a Gwinnett Retired Teachers Associate Committee Chair. Ruth and Barney were members of the Norcross First Baptist Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Charles Barney Davis Jr. on November 21, 2010. She is survived by four sons, Charles Barney Davis III (Chuck and wife Gloria) of Raleigh, NC; Thomas Donald Davis (Don and wife Barbara) of St. Simons Island; Allen Bryant Davis (Allen and wife Miriam) of Fernandina Beach, FL; and William Robert Davis (Bill and wife Kathey) of Loganville; five grandchildren Chad Davis, Will Davis, Brent Davis, Leila Saunders and Bryant Davis; seven great-grandchildren and three brothers, Leon Gus Crawford of Anderson SC, George Ned Crawford of Hendersonville, NC, and James Carroll Crawford of Loganville.
