SHERIDAN - Funeral services for John Alan Brayton,75, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date.

He died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 15, 1928, to Harold and Marguerite (Barker) Brayton. He attended Holy Name School and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945.

Immediately upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served on the aircraft carriers U.S.S. John Hancock and the U.S.S. Boxer. He returned to Sheridan in 1948.

He married Marion Woods in 1947 in Sheridan. He was employed at the First National Bank, where he retired as Senior Vice President in the early 1980s. He was also employed in real estate with BHJ and Purcell Land Company.

His enjoyment in life included horse training, steer roping, golf, stock trading, his children and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Donald; one sister, Betty Jean; and one son, Thad John Brayton.

He is survived by son Mike Brayton of Gillette; four daughters, Margi Gray of Sheridan, Jodi Brayton of Washington D.C., Liz Skates of Rawlins and Shannon Brayton of Mesa, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter, 84 E. Ridge Rd., or Holy Name Catholic School, 121 A. Connor St., Sheridan 82801.
