Mildred was born on January 9, 1929, at St. Benedict, KS, to Barney and Anna (Mueting) Heiman. In 1946, she graduated from St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Seneca, KS. She then went on to work for Hallmark in Topeka. Mildred also worked at Strathman's Department Store in Seneca until she was married to Aloysuis (Allie) on May 5, 1956, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She and Allie lived near St. Bridget for a couple years until moving to the farm south of Axtell in 1959, where they resided for the rest of their lives. At the farm, Mildred worked alongside Allie, helping out with every part of the farming operation and maintaining their home.
Mildred enjoyed genealogy and doing extensive research of records and stories on several family histories. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, planting flowers and trees around their farmstead. Her favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church and Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allie, on February 17, 2012; parents; brother, Norbert Heiman; and infant granddaughter, Nicole Reinecke.
A memorial fund has been established for the Axtell EMT. Contributions may be sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home.
